Two CHC Student-Athletes Honored by NE Hockey Writers

BOSTON, Mass. – Two Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) student-athletes were honored by the New England Hockey Writers Association as Division III All Stars for their performance this season.

Reigning CHC Player of the Year Mel McAleer (Hanson, Mass.) of Nichols College and CHC Goaltender of the Year Vendela Jonsson (Linkoping, Sweden) of Endicott College each added to their season accolades.

McAleer was tabbed CHC Player of the Year after leading the conference in points with 17 on ten goals and seven assists. Her ten goals in 12 conference contests were also tops in the CHC. McAleer ended the 2018-19 campaign with 33 total points and 14 goals.

Jonsson was recognized as Goaltender of the Year after posting a 5-1-1 record in CHC play while allowing only five goals. In over 420 minutes of action during the regular season the senior netminder compiled a 0.71 goals against average and .965 save percentage.  Jonsson finished the season with an overall 1.17 goals against average and .684 win percentage (both league highs) and a .950 save percentage (2nd in the CHC).

The All Stars will be recognized with the other New England Hockey Writers Association All Stars at an awards dinner on April 17 in Saugus, Mass.
