Nor'Easters Blank SUNY Canton to Advance to CHC Semifinals

CANTON, N.Y. – Two second-period goals lifted fifth-seeded University of New England past fourth-seeded SUNY Canton 2-0 in Colonial Hockey Conference Championship First Round action at the Roos House on Saturday afternoon.

UNE advances to the semifinal round at top-seeded Endicott on Saturday, March 2. Game time will be announced at a later date.
 
Julianne Sheehan put back her own rebound to get things started for UNE at the 11:28 mark of the second period. Jenna Pych found Kyra Yu on a breakaway just over three minutes later as the Nor'easters extended their lead to 2-0.
 
The Kangaroos would not go down easily as they out-shot UNE 13-6 in the third period, but were unable to beat Julia Benjamin who made 25 saves to earn her third shutout of the season for the Nor'easters. Brooke Susac had 26 stops for SUNY Canton. The Roos finish the season with a record of 10-11-5.
